Charles Theodore Te Water (1887-1964) was a South African barrister, diplomat and politician who was appointed as President of the Assembly of the League of Nations.〔(''Assembly Meeting'' ) ''Time Magazine'' retrieved May 16, 2008〕
== Biography ==

Born in Graaff-Reinet, Cape Province, on 4 February 1887, the son of Dr Thomas Te Water, a South African doctor and politician, Charles Te Water was educated at Bedford School and at Christ's College, Cambridge.
He became a barrister of the Inner Temple in 1910, and was a member of the Pretoria bar between 1910 and 1929. He represented Pretoria for the National Party in the Union Parliament between 1924 and 1929, and was High Commissioner for the Union of South Africa in London between 1929 and 1939. He was the Union of South Africa's delegate to the League of Nations between 1929 and 1939, and was appointed as President of the Assembly of the League of Nations between 1933 and 1934. He was Ambassador at large for South Africa between 1948 and 1949.〔http://www.ukwhoswho.com/view/article/oupww/whowaswho/U54427/te_WATER_Charles_Theodore?index=706&results=QuicksearchResults&query=0〕 Te Water was awarded an honorary doctor of laws degree by Wits University in 1955.
Chancellor of the University of Pretoria between 1949 and 1964, Charles Te Water died in Cape Town on 6 June 1964, at the age of 77.〔Obituary, ''The Times'', 9 June 1964〕
